Click on the statue over the cavity and it will fall kinda like a bridge. Go and get the shield.

Click on the pillar behind the shield. Hold the pillar up and then drop it. The pillar will fall and you can walk on it, to get the shield.

You don't have to just click it. Hold it with the mouse and then lift it and drop it to make a bridge. This is the best I can explain.
