The game is called Tontie, I found it on the Crazy Monkey Games site. I guess you could call it a point and click game, but its a little weird!!
Difficult to explain, but here goes. Using the number pad on your keyboard, hit these little creatures on the head. As the levels progress, new creatures are introduced, with different instructions to get rid of them, ie a blue one must be hit once, a red one twice, a spiky ball and chain not at all. You are sometimes rewarded for your hits, in either hearts, representing life, or in coins, which at the end of certain levels you can spend in the "Tontie Shop" to get more life, better weapons etc.
