What kinds of buttons do you mean?

Your friend will first want to register with the site. Then, they want to get their confirmation email. That will allow them to edit their posts and be a fully-registered member. :) After that, your friend can click on the different forums, and explore and see what your friend is interested in. :) Is that what you mean, or do you want something more specific? :?

And this will help your friend learn how to edit and use spoilers, etc. :D

Did I answer your question, or do you have more questions? :? Feel free to ask. :)

The "Quote" button you click when you want to respond to someone else's response directly. It makes it clear who you are responding to. :)

The "Post Quick Reply" button is the easiest way to make a post. You simply type what you want to post in the white box at the bottom, and the click, "Post Quick Reply."

The "Go Advanced" button will take you to a screen where you have more options. On that screen you can change the font, the font size, color, click to view more smilies (on the right side) and basically create a layout for your reply. :) You can also "Preview Post" on this screen. When you click that, you can see what your post will look like. To officially post it when you are ready, just click "Submit Reply."

I hope that helps. :)

oh, and i know a short cut! to da smilies. on advanced mode, look at the smilie you want and memorize the thing in the : : next to it. like this: :+D = :D
and many more like: [luv] ([]=:: ) = :luv: there are tons more, and they arnt hard to memorize, becuase it usually has a name that means what the smilie is doing. Hope that helps you and your friend.

Jcatz - If you memorize the code of the smiley and type it, it shows you the smiley! It always has :D

"If you are here as a guest, please register to keep things clear around here. Members have more benefits. And guests who don't want to register please use spoiler tags spoiler text here Okay, that's about it!"

My question is:
Can guests post too?

More than a year ago, guests were able to post as well. As you noticed this has changed but that message was never deleted. :P

o.k.

what is the deal with the current active users list?? it's not in alphabetical order.

and i see some users that are "idle" for 8 mins.. but they are ahead of the list of people that are idle for 2mins

The list is set up in "random mode," that means that if you refresh your bowser, it may change...perhaps. It is not in ABC order or in any time stamp order. You will always find your name first (each member logged in will always see thier name first). I hope that helps. ;)

why random then and not in order

The reason is: Everything this forum is asked to do requires memory. As the forum grows, using more memory is intensive. If we leave the forum at random mode, it will take you, the user, less time to load pages, because others are not placing too much intensity on the servers. ABC mode requires a great deal of memory.

You're welcome. ;) Others are probably wondering this too, but never asked. Now because you asked they will know. :)

no relevance but the only stupid question is the one not asked :P

also lol ......... that would have been probably clarified if i would have clicked more than 2 or 3 peoples names and made the connection w/ the time
