I have: a hammer (used) , a door handle (used), a battery, a key (used) and a box with what looks like eye drops (used) - been around the room like 500 times and cannot get the darned colour code!!!!!!

hmm, I think I have problem with safe code...

I tried:

7,4,9,1 / 7,4,6,1 / 77, 44, 99, 11 and some combinations with colours of books and symbols and I hope this is not some code made of microsoft wingsdings or something like that

I think I have to google :/

I'm at the same point as mindsmasher, I'm using code 5 7 9 11 / 5 7 9 1 but it doesn't work

Ok, I don't know how you got your code, but I used it.
I'm out without finding the colour combination and opening the red door.
Are there different endings?

Go left
Open left wardrobe door
Take hammer
Close door
Look behind wardrobe (on left side)
Take screwdriver
Zoom back out
Go left
Click white book
Turn a page
Take green key
Put down book
Zoom in on clock
Note the Roman numerals and their positions
Open door over pendulum
Take handle
Zoom out
Use hammer on bottom of wall next to the left edge of the screen
Zoom in and take battery
Zoom out
Go left
Zoom in on grate
Use screwdriver on screws
Remove grate
Note the positions of the Roman numerals here
Zoom out
Zoom in on plant
Take blueberry extract
Open up blueberry extract in About Item
Click top of box twice
Take blueberry extract pills
Close item
Zoom out
Zoom in on box on wall
Use green key to unlock
Use Roman numerals from clock to get colors by rotating wheel to correct positions
Red, Yellow, Green, Blue
Zoom out
Go left
Zoom in on box beside door
Open box
Input colors using order from grate
Clockwise, from top left: Red, Green, Yellow, Blue
Zoom out
Open closet (door will have blue square if unlocked)
Take flashlight
Open flashlight in About Item
Remove flashlight top
Insert battery
Replace flashlight top
Turn on flashlight
Close About Item screen
Turn off light (above color box)
Go left two times
Shine flashlight above bookshelf to get code
Numbers in code are mirrored vertically, split each in half to get number 7421
Go right two times
Turn light back on
Go left one time
Use handle on right wardrobe door
Open right door
Zoom in on safe
Use numbers on safe
Zoom out
Get bottle from safe
Open bottle in About Items
Remove top and drink
Click arrows to move around room into hole made with hammer earlier
Click white square on left
Click lower-right corner
Get orange key
Click down arrow
Click door ahead of you
Use orange key on door
Out!

I can't get the color sequence, the square won't go blue. I'm gonna have a fit soon.

you need to look at the panel in the wall and the clock and the vent...work it out that way

Nice game - beats reruns on TV!! Had a time finding right place to use flashlight. Funny what slows up people - not always the same thing.
